A keyword is the word or group or words that a person enters as their search term when they are looking for a resource or information online. Keywords can be very specific or quite vague; the more specific the terms are that a person enters, the closer they are going to get to the exact information they are seeking. From the perspective of a website owner, keywords are the tools that help potential clients arrive at your website. The importance of choosing the correct keywords cannot be underestimated; it is the keyword that is used in all optimization efforts to not only increase the number of visitors who find you during a search, but also make sure that the customers who find you are the ones that you want to reach.
We provide a turnkey Keyword Research program. We talk to you and develop 5-10 keywords that have sufficient monthly search volume and are within your competition target.
Keyword Research starts with a 30 minute phone call with you. You explain the objectives of your website, who your competitors are, and provide any historical analytics information that could be useful.
We will develop a list of potential keywords using 4 sources:
- 3rd party Keyword Research Tools
- Current rankings and traffic from Google Analytics
- Keywords that are being used in the Paid Search program
- Competitor’s organic and paid search keywords
In addition to the opportunity for keywords, we will use standard measures to identify competition for those keywords. We typically use the number of exact match pages in the Google index as a key factor in measuring competition.
